Nutrition support is an important part of therapy. Increasing interest has been focused on parenteral application of glutamine in the last years. Quickly growing tissues – enterocytes, blood cells, and immune system cells - are main consumers of glutamine. Glutamine is a non esential aminoacid, which becomes conditionally essential during situations of hypercatabolism.
