Summary: Identification of non-palpable lesions in the breast is necessary for optimum surgery. In Czech Republic the marking is usually performed by wire localization. Carbon suspension (in general we talk about a pigment) ihas been useed in the last years. It is applied around the tumor, mostly on its two contraratelar sides, or it is marked on the skin along with a description of the depth of the carcinoma in the breast. The lesion can be targeted using an ultrasound (when identifiable via ultrasound), stereotactically at mammography, or employing magnetic resonance imaging. The Department of Radiology of Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute tested malignant non-palpable breast lesion marking using a sterile solution of the tattoo dye.
