Klin Onkol 2004; 17(2): 59-60.
Summary: Availability of tumor tissue obtained during operation and frozen in native status according to strictly defined procedures has a growing importance in the development of molecular biology methods in oncology. This material can serve not only as a source for actual or future research projects on the level of genome or proteome, dealing with non-fixed tissues, but also for therapeutic decision for individual patients. The similar European projects are planned at virtual variant of this database, accessible for scientific community. In the tumor tissue bank established in Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute in 2000 are actually more than 900 tumors of selected types.
