Summary: The article gives an overview of valid European and Czech legal norms that regulate three areas of clinical data processing: management of health care documentation, national registers and data processing for scientific purposes. Furthermore, ethical standards for clinical data collecting are summarized, especially in the relation to the research funded by the EU.
