Klin Onkol 2001; 14(2): 55-58.

Summary:
Backgrounds: Present study evaluates the neoadjuvant treatment with vinorelbin (30 mg/m2) and carboplatin (AUC 6) before surgery, combined with adjuvant chemotherapy.
Materials and methods: In a prospective study 20 patients with NSCLC stage III A were treated.
Results: Downstaging was achieved in 9 patients. Surgery could be realised in 14 patients. Methythiazolyl tetrazolium blue MTT test of in-vitro chemoresistance was performed when it was possible. Selective adjuvant chemotherapy was applied according to the results of MTT test.
Conclusions: Tolerance of regimen was good, achieved operability was acceptable. Median survival was 25 month (after surgery) and 12.5 month (without surgery). Further studies on correlation between in-vitro and in-vivo results are necessary.
