Klin Onkol 2000; 13(3): 91-95.

Summary: During the last decade recombinant, DNA technologies have facilitated development and production of haemopoetic growth factor (colony stimulating factors CSF) that stimulate the proliferation and maturation of haematopoetic cells. The use of CSF (mainly granulocyte and granulocyte macrophage CSF) in children is widespread, despite the absence of conclusive supportive date, and despite the high cost of these drugs. This review is devoted to the one of the most contraversial, but the most common reason for their use as well-prophylactic use. A summary of recomended uses of the CSF for pediatric oncology praxis and the relevant clinical studies discussion are presented.
