Summary: The health-care system in Sweden includes a high-quality information system offering valid data of the development of the state of health of the population. Following their careful checking and tracing, the oncology data are handed over to the information system of the Nordic countries. The information presented has been gained gained during a short study stay. The overall characteristics of the Swedish health-care system and its funding is followed with remarks of the Sahlgrenska Hospital in Goteborg and a review of 9 information registries. A special attention is paid to the cancer registry and its tasks, fulfilled since its establishing in 1958. Some data of the malignancies incidence are given to enable comparing with the Czech Republic
