Abstract: At the present time, no effective chemotherapy for hormone-resistant prostate cancer exists. The response rate of particular cytostatic drugs (anthracyclines, 5-fluorouracil, cyclophosphamide) is 0-50 %, but the median of response duration is 30-40 weeks. Radiotherapy of the pelvis can be useful in bulky disease causing compression of the ureter or pain. Radiotherapy is highly effective in painful bone metastases and metastases in CNS.
