Abstract: A brief review of the possibilities of hormonal treatment of advanced prostate cancer is presented. A basic principle is deprivation of androgens from tumor cells of the prostate by surgery, drugs, or both. Better results can be achieved by total blockade, especially in patients with good physical status, a lower number of metastases and a negative level of alkaline phosphatase.
