Abstract: The process of choosing the optimal method of urinary diversion after cystectomy depends on various factors related to the patient's age, education level, and subjective attitudes, his general health status, especially the involvement of his kidney´s, and the stage and prognosis of primary malignant disease. The optimal method of urinary diversion should always be chosen for each individual patient. The author deals with indications and contraindications of different methods of urinary diversion after cystectomy for invasive bladder cancer (classic uretero-sigmoido-stomy, sigma-rectum pouch, uretero-ileostomy, continent urinary reservoirs).
