Abstract: Cytostatic treatment has not shown any significant benefit for renal cell carcinoma patients. The initially promising results of gestagens which had appeared in early studies have not been confirmed. The most promising results an the present time have been achieved with interferon-alpha, interleukin-2 and 5-fluorouracil, but the definitive role of this treatment has been not yet determined.
