Klin Onkol 1995; 8(4): 107-113.

Summary: Bimorphic lymphoma: diagnostic approach and clinical significance. The study comprised 110 patients with malignant lymphomas of non-Hodgkins type in which bone marrow biopsy specimens were examined in the staging. The immu-nophenotype of the neoplastic lymphoid cells at both sites was identical in all cases: in 16 cases B-cell origin while in 3 cases T-cell origin was confirmed. In 8 cases, a discordant morphology represented a transformation of small cell lymphoma into high grade large cell lymphoma and it was associated with poor clinical outcome. Ten patients with high grade lymphoma developed a discordant involvement of the bone marrow by a small cell lymphoma. Their response to therapy and survival rate were similar to those in patients with no marrow involvement and better than those in patients with concordant marrow involvement.
