Klin Onkol 1992; 5(3): 83-84.

SCC-Antigen is a tumour marker of squamous cell carcinoma. Its levels reflect an activity of tumorous proliferation and correlate with regression and progression or recurrence of the disease. The value of 2.0 ng/ml is designated to be the upper limit of the normal range. Since the sensitivity of the test is low (53,3%), but the specifity is high enough it is not an appropriate screening method. A measurement of SCC-Antigen levels provides a noninvasive means of monitoring the effects of individual therapy in gynaecological patients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma. Rising SCC-Antigen levels precede the clinical detection by a mean of 5 months. The autors inform of the experience identical with published literary data.
