Author presents a brief overview of general considerations how to interprete the DNA flow-cytometry results in various tissues and especially in cancer cells. The prognostic value of of DNA ploidity is discussed for the Barrett's oesophagus and for the epitelium dysplasia in oesophagus. Special attention is payed to the correlation of DNA ploidity and the biologic behavior invasivity, metastasing potential of oesophageal, gastric, and colorectal cancer.
