Summary:
The authors report the use of the radioimmunoanalysis of tumor markers AFP and beta-hCG and CT examination of the retroperitoneum and the lung in 205 patients with germinative testicular tumors. In 77,8 % patients, the level of at least one of these markersuhs increased before orchiectomia. The relation between the production of tumor markers after orchiectomia and the clinical stage of the illness was statistically significant.
They evaluated the contribution of the determination of tumor markers and CT examination for early detection of diseace progression in patients in clinical stage I. By monitoring of the effectivity of medicaments, they followed up the ever-growing fall of the preliminary increased levels of tumor markers in the course of chemotherapy and compared them with CT or histological findings of the surgical removed residual tumor after chemotherapy.
