Klin Onkol 1988; 1(4): 113-116.
Summary: The authors introduce a retrospective set of 666 women patients treated for the breast cancer in their hospital. They analyze the above mentioned set as a health education problem and take notice of the causes of the beginning of treatment. They have come to these conclusions: 50% patients come to the doctor with more than two months - delay. Let´s consider the quantity of patients being late for 100%. 60% patients declare that the cause of their being late is the ignorance of the cancer problems, 30% the carcinofobia. It is necessary to take notice of 10% being late patients too - their undue delay was caused through a fault of their doctor. All the data expoze reserve in the health education of our population. Its improvement gives us security that more patients would come in earlier stages to the doctor and the number of the delayed patients would be reduced. This could guarantee a greater success in treatment of breast cancer.
